What is Indian Head Massage?

Massage has always played an important role in Indian family life, featuring in the early Ayurvedic texts which date back nearly 4000 years. Originally it was created by women who used different oils according to the season to keep their hair strong, lustrous and in beautiful condition. Later many of these same skills were practiced by barbers.

These skills have evolved through the ages and have been extended to not only include the head and face, but also the neck, shoulders, arms and upper back. Indian Head Massage is wonderful for relieving tension especially where it accumulates the most; the shoulders and neck. It eases aching tense muscles, improves blood circulation and generally allows for a feeling of lightness and tranquility.
